Amadou Onana has revealed he left French club Lille for Everton after being blown away by playing against Chelsea in the Champions League last season.
“I remember being amazed by the crowd at Stamford Bridge. By the atmosphere, by the challenge,” Onana told So Foot.
“After going through that, I made the Premier League one of my goals.
“It’s a pleasure to play in this championship, because there is never a small match, there are only big teams and that adds to the challenge. It’s what makes me live.”
The 21 year old midfielder turned down a move to Chelsea in January but has made it clear that he would still be keen to move on from Everton in future.
Asked where he sees himself in five years, Onana said: “I see myself having had a lot of life experiences, which will have made me learn a lot about human beings in general, as well as about myself.
“I see myself, God willing, at one of the biggest clubs recognised worldwide.”
