Chelsea are in the market for a striker, with less than two weeks left until the close of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea are now trying to do all they can to sign up 33-year-old Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.
It’s still a surprise that Chelsea didn’t make a move for Gabriel Jesus who was available for transfer, for just £45m.
According to reports, by the time Chelsea made a move for Jesus, Arsenal were almost completing the deal.
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp, has hailed the quality of Jesus, who has had a brilliant start to life at Arsenal.
According to Redknapp, Jesus is an upgrade on Chelsea target Aubameyang.
“He’s electric, for your striker to be such a focal point and come into make an impact that’s exactly what he’s done,” he said during Sky Sports’ coverage of Arsenal and Bournemouth on the Saturday Night Football.
“The strength that he shows is phenomenal. He’s like an electric eel, he’s so quick and strong. He’s transformed the team, it’s such an upgrade from Lacazette and Aubameyang, he just gives them something different. He’s been a brilliant signing.”
