Mauricio Pochettino has attributed Chelsea’s struggles this season to injury problems.

Chelsea have been without a number of first-team players in recent weeks, as the likes of Reece James, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell have been sidelined with injury issues.

Enzo Fernandez also missed the last game after undergoing surgery for hernia, and is out for the rest of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino has ruled two more players out of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Tottenham.

Speaking at his pre-Spurs press conference, Pochettino said he had ‘no good news’ on the injury front as he confirmed that Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi would also miss the London derby clash at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.

This has been the story of Chelsea’s season, as almost the entire squad has been hit with injury problems at some point this season.

Pressed on why Chelsea have been affected by so many injuries this season, Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino said: “I need to be honest, what I can say is we have a new process.

“There are things we can do better, of course. But there are many circumstances so it’s difficult to explain with one word or one sentence.

“We have amazing medical staff who have a lot of experience in this business. We need to be better next season and improve. But I think the quality is here, this happens sometimes.”
