Ex-Chelsea midfielder, N’Golo Kante has been hailed as a joke of a player by Gianfranco Zola due to his incredible pace and energy.

Kante was one of the many Chelsea stars that left Stamford Bridge in search of greener pastures in the summer. The Frenchman spent seven years in West London, and won some major trophies during that time, including the UEFA Champions League.

Kante and Zola worked together back in 2018 when Maurizio Sarri was hired as manager, and according to him, the diminutive midfielder was a joy to work with because of his unique qualities.

“I can speak all day about him. He was a joke,” Zola told The Obi One Podcast.

“He was a joke because it was impossible to see anybody running so much at high intensity speed.

“The high intensity runs he used to make he was double everyone in the Premier League. You cannot run at high speed for such a long time. This guy was the double of everyone. He was unbelievable.

“Sometimes we used to laugh on the bench because we couldn’t believe he was defending and getting the ball, and all of a sudden he was attacking on the other end.”

Kante currently plays for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, and interestingly, his injury struggles appear to be gone.
