Mauricio Pochettino must drop this Chelsea star to the bench against Sheffield United

Mykhaylo Mudryk, despite being a high-profile signing for the Blues at £88.5m, has only managed to net six goals in 32 appearances this season, a tally that falls short of expectations for such an expensive acquisition.

Playing in his preferred left-wing role in the 4-3 victory over Manchester United, Mudryk’s contribution was limited; he only had 38 touches, even fewer than goalkeeper Dorde Petrovic, and completed a mere 18 passes, suggesting he struggled to engage effectively for significant periods of the game.

While he was successful in all of his dribble attempts and took three shots in the game, his crossing accuracy was low, with only one successful cross out of five attempts, and he only created one significant scoring opportunity.

Mudryk also demonstrated a lack of ball security, surrendering possession 11 times and winning only two out of eight physical contests.

Given these performances, it might be advisable for coach Mauricio Pochettino to consider benching Mudryk for the upcoming game against the Blades and potentially starting Raheem Sterling instead.

Sterling, who replaced Mudryk for the last 20 minutes of the match, showed higher efficiency, completing 91% of his passes, suggesting he could offer more to the team’s dynamics from the start.
