For many years, Chelsea have been known to always have a top-class goalkeeper.

From Carlo Cudicini to Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea had two decades stretch without goalkeeper issues.

Since losing Courtois, the goalkeeping department at Chelsea have been haphazard, with only Edouard Mendy brining temporary relief at some point.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was expected to take over from Courtois, but the Spaniard never lived up to his £72m transfer fee.

Reports claim that Chelsea are finally planning on settling the goalkeeper position this summer.

Earlier this month, Football Insider claimed that Chelsea are interested in a deal to sign Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak to be their new number one.

Jan Oblak is currently one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and has been so for the past decade.

Chelsea now want to land the Slovenia international in the summer transfer window to compete with Djordje Petrovic and Roberto Sanchez.

Chelsea have targeted the La Liga star for many years, but no deal has been made.

Football Insider added that Atletico Madrid could be willing to allow the veteran goalkeeper move on this summer, to fund their own spending spree to bolster Diego Simeone’s squad.

The report also claimed that a deal to sign the 31-year-old Oblak would be easier than Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale, who is also a target for Chelsea.

However, it made no mention of how much it would take for Chelsea to secure Jan Oblak.
