Marc Cucurella has called on his Chelsea teammates to build on their thrilling victory against Manchester United by securing a win against Sheffield United today.
Thursday night saw one of the Premier League’s most memorable matches, with Chelsea clinching a 4-3 win over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, thanks to a 101st-minute goal from Cole Palmer.
A victory over Sheffield United this evening would bring Chelsea closer to the Europa League qualification spots.
Marc Cucurella emphasized the importance of avoiding complacency in today’s match against Sheffield United, despite their position at the bottom of the Premier League standings.
“We need to be more stable,” Marc Cucurella said.
“We need to win every week and we have an important game at Sheffield United that we must win. Otherwise, the three points [against Manchester United] were for nothing. So we need to keep building.
“A lot of games we have played better than the result shows, but this is football. We need to reduce these small mistakes to become a better team. We are young but we fight until the end and believe in our quality.”
Cucurella has been in the starting lineup for the last four games following his comeback from an ankle injury last month. He has impressed with his performances, netted his inaugural goal for the Blues, and received his second international cap for Spain.
“It’s not been an easy season because I was injured for a long period,” Marc Cucurella added.
“I had to do my best, work hard every day, and now I’ve had the possibility to play. I feel very good and we need to continue in this way and win the games, that is most important.”
