Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia would be unavailable for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on February 25th.

The 20-year-old moved to Stamford Bridge from Southampton, for an initial fee of £53m during the summer, but has only made a single appearance for the Blues to date.

After his move to west London, he suffered an ankle injury and later developed a hamstring issue, sidelining him since his solitary game in December.

While Pochettino hasn’t disclosed specific details about the injury, he has confirmed that the midfielder will be unavailable for at least the next few weeks.

Asked if Lavia could be back for the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on 25 February, Pochettino said: “No. He is not training with the team. He is still recovering. Impossible. He is still not on the pitch.”
