Alan Shearer has stated that Chelsea are yet to convince him they have turned the corner despite the Blues winning their last three games.

Chelsea picked up a slim 1-0 win against Fulham last weekend, thanks to a late penalty strike from Cole Palmer in first half stoppage time.

The win came after Mauricio Pochettino’s side beat Luton and Crystal Palace 3-2 and 2-1, respectively, but Shearer is still not sure things have started to come together for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

The Newcastle legend also pointed out that Chelsea need to buy new players in key departments, despite the heavy outlay in the Todd Boehly era.

Speaking on the Rest Is Football podcast, he said: “I still can’t work out how you can spend that much money and still need a goalkeeper maybe, still need a centre-half, and definitely need a centre forward but three wins. A little bit better, but I wouldn’t get too excited.”

We cannot argue that Chelsea have been very inconsistent this season, but we think it’s also harsh to pass judgement like Shearer has without factoring in the fact that the team has had a lot of injuries during the course of the campaign, and we’re talking about players that are very important to the project, like Reece James, Wesley Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, etc.

If everyone is fit, there is no doubt that Chelsea would be getting far better results than they have so far.
