Mauricio Pochettino was very pleased with Cole Palmer’s contribution to Chelsea’s 1-0 win against Fulham on Saturday.

Palmer provided the Blues’ with the winning goal in Chelsea’s 21st Premier League game of the season.

It was a much-better display from the 21-year-old, who missed a hoarde of opportunities in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final defeat to Middlesbrough.

“I think we believe in him and even when he does not score and misses big chances like he did against Middlesbrough,” Pochettino said about Palmer after the win against Fulham.

“We are always going to be disappointed because we believe in him and he has the quality to play. I think it’s important for young guys like him to feel the support from the coaching staff and the club and his team-mates.

“He is very young, and it’s the first season he has played consistently every week, and that can happen but the most important thing is to believe in him and give him confidence.”
