Christopher Nkunku played his first competitive game for Chelsea, as the Blues beat Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup quarter finals on Tuesday night.

The Frenchman, who only recently recovered from a knee injury, had to come from the bench in the game, with his side battling to find an equaliser to Callum Wilson’s early goal.

It was a brief cameo for Nkunku, so we didn’t see much of the forward, although he sure seemed happy that his side have progressed to the last four after follow substitute, Mykhailo Mudryk scored in added time to force the game to a penalty shootout.

Taking to his social media account after the game, the former Bundesliga star expressed his delight to have made his debut, and admitted he was eager to play more.

His Instagram post was captioned: “The best way to meet you guys for the first time at the Bridge.

“Thanks for the warm welcome [blue heart emoji]. Can’t wait for more.”

Nkunku has now made it to the bench in two different games for Chelsea, and fans will be hoping the streak continues, after waiting for months to see him in action.
