Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp attempted to convince Moises Caicedo to join Liverpool with a series of text messages, according to the Athletic via Metro.

Liverpool attempted to hijack Chelsea’s move for Caicedo when they tabled an eye-watering £111million bid that would have broken the British transfer record.

Liverpool were convinced Caicedo will be a Liverpool player after Brighton accepted their offer.

Klopp made personal contact with Caicedo but, according to The Athletic, the Ecuador midfielder informed Klopp that he had little interest in moving to Liverpool and had his heart set firmly on becoming a Chelsea player.
