Former Chelsea manager Glenn Hoddle has blasted Chelsea’s performance in the 2-0 defeat to Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has lost all five games he has been in charge and Hoddle revealed Chelsea looked bereft of ideas against Brentford.

“They’re bereft of ideas,” Hoddle told BT Sport.

“They’re playing in front of Brentford. There’s no runners in behind, we said about no center forward, well no-one is there.

“If other people are arriving into the box and you’re seeing that, there’s no danger. The amount of times they’ve had to come back and play square and across.

“Brentford, the back three are going ‘this is the easiest game we’ve had all season here, they’re not turning us, they’re not causing us any problems’.

“Chelsea have got to change it, they’ve got to change the system and the personnel.”
