Chelsea has initiated discussions with Napoli about a potential player-plus-cash transaction that would involve Romelu Lukaku in exchange for Victor Osimhen.

The Blues have shown consistent interest in the Nigerian forward, and a transfer now seems increasingly possible.

This season, Nicolas Jackson has been the primary striker for Chelsea, following Armando Broja’s loan move in January and limited playtime for Deivid Washington.

Although Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig has also been rumored to be on Chelsea’s radar, his experience level is comparable to Jackson’s.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea’s first approach has been made to secure Osimhen from Napoli.

Di Marzio reports that Chelsea isn’t the only club interested; PSG has also been eyeing Osimhen, but Chelsea has already made preliminary contact.

The feasibility of the deal is currently being explored by Chelsea, with Napoli potentially open to a transfer fee ranging from 68 to 77 million euros. Additionally, Napoli is requesting two players, including Lukaku for a direct swap and another younger player, whose transfer could be either permanent or on loan, though the details remain unspecified.

Di Marzio also notes that Lukaku is on the radar of Napoli’s incoming sporting director Giovanni Manna, who previously attempted to bring him to Juventus.

Previously, there were discussions about a swap deal involving Dusan Vlahovic, and now a similar strategy might be pursued for Osimhen.

However, Di Marzio emphasizes that the preferences and interests of Osimhen and Lukaku will be crucial for any deal to proceed.
