Roy Keane was very pleased to watch Chelsea dismantle Aston Villa during their FA Cup fourth-round replay on Wednesday night.
Chelsea picked up a 3-1 win against a formidable Unai Emery side that are 15 points clear of them in the Premier League.
Prior to the game, not many gave Chelsea a chance in their predictions, including Sky Sports pundit, Paul Merson, who said it would be an easy Villa win.
Chelsea were however, very dominant against their opponents starting from the blow of the first whistle, and went into half-time with a well-deserved 2-0 lead through goals from Conor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson.
Enzo Fernandez later made it 3-0 for Chelsea with a brilliantly-taken free kick in the 54th minute, before Moussa Diaby pulled one back for Villa.
In his post-match analysis, Man United great, Keane said he was pleased with Chelsea’s performance, and even likened it to that of ‘the old Chelsea’.
“It’s like the old Chelsea,” Keane told ITV.
“Brilliant, strong, physical and sharp in possession. Good decision-making, two quality goals.
“They have been excellent. Hunting in packs, working in numbers, and they are playing like a team tonight.
“It was a nice bit of composure and a beautiful strike from [Conor] Gallagher and they’ve been everything you want as a team. Simple but quality.
“The (second goal) is lovely, it’s great quality all round. We questioned Jackson’s finishing pre-game but again it’s a lovely goal.”
