Mauricio Pochettino is considering a move for Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, according to reports.

It is believed that Chelsea and Arsenal are among the Premier League clubs that enquired about the forward back in September.

Pochettino has been given more influence over transfer decisions, and the Argentine is looking to make the most of it by adding his own kind of players to his current Chelsea squad.

The Blues boss will work with the club’s co-sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, as well as co-director of recruitment and talent, Joe Shields to actualise that goal.

The Independent claims that Pochettino still lacks utmost faith in the abilities of Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja to lead the lines for Chelsea, and will try to sign Toney to ease his striking problems in January.

Brentford are said to value the striker at £65m, after his 68 goals and 21 assists from 124 matches for them.

Toney is currently serving a lengthy punishment for violating the Premier League’s gambling rules, and won’t be back until later in January.
