Manchester United have ended talks with Chelsea to sign Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella and are now close to completing a deal for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon.

Reguilon has travelled to Manchester in order to complete his medical ahead of his loan move from Spurs, which will be completed before Friday’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Negotiations between Manchester United and Chelsea over a transfer for Chelsea left-back Cucurella collapsed due to a variery of reasons.

According to Metro, Manchester United offered a loan fee of £2million to sign Cucurella but the Blues demanded a loan fee of £7million.

Manchester United also wanted a break clause as part of the agreement to sign Cucurella, which meant the Red Devils could send the Spaniard back to Stamford Bridge in January.

Manchester United also ended talks to sign Cucurella following Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to play Cucurella in Chelsea’s Carabao Cup tie against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday evening.

It meant that the 25-year-old would be unable to play the Red Devils in the Carabao Cup this season if he joined United.
