Chelsea announced the dismissal of Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday morning, as the German was in charge of the team following the 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb.

The sack of Tuchel came as a shock to all, as the German’s job was believed to be safe.

Reporters Adam Newson and Miguel Delaney, have revealed that the Chelsea hierarchy held a team meeting with the players to discuss the sacking of Tuchel after his departure.

The Chelsea chiefs had to meet with the players to ensure a smooth transition.

Newson reports: “A meeting was held with the Chelsea first-team squad on Wednesday afternoon – and a further conversation was held with a collection of the senior players following the departure of Thomas Tuchel.

“The Chelsea hierarchy had a 15-minute talk with the team after the decision to sack Thomas Tuchel,” said Delaney. “They acknowledged it was a ‘tough day’ but it was now ‘time to turn the page’ as the club ‘believes in them very much’.”

Chelsea have since appointed Graham Potter to take over from Tuchel.

Todd Boehly had revealed his delight at the appointment of Graham Potter, and revealed in a statement that Potter fits the club’s vision, which many believe led to the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, as Todd Boehly and Tuchel never got to agree with each other leading to a falling out.

Todd Boehly said of Graham Potter’s appointment: “We are thrilled to bring Graham to Chelsea. He is a proven coach and an innovator in the Premier League who fits our vision for the Club.

“Not only is he extremely talented on the pitch, he has skills and capabilities that extend beyond the pitch which will make Chelsea a more successful Club.

“He has had a major impact at his previous Clubs and we look forward to his positive impact at Chelsea. We look forward to supporting him, his coaching team and the squad in realising their full potential in the coming months and years.”
