Chelsea legend John Terry couldn’t hide his excitement after watching the Blues sweep aside Wolves 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday — and it was one player in particular who caught his eye.
Terry reacted to the victory on TikTok, and while there were plenty of standout performances across the pitch, the former captain singled out Alejandro Garnacho for special praise. The young winger has been under the spotlight recently, with fans calling for more consistency, but Terry believes the attacker is beginning to show exactly why Chelsea brought him in.
“I also want to touch on how good [Alejandro] Garnacho was yesterday,” Terry said about the winger who provided two assists on Saturday night.
The Chelsea legend emphasised what makes Garnacho such a difficult proposition for defenders — his directness, pace, and willingness to take on his man.
He said: “Absolutely petrifying as a defender when you’re facing someone that quick and that direct. He gives us something the other wingers don’t as well.
“That’s what you want to see as a Chelsea fan, players like that beating players. It doesn’t always have to be with loads of skill.”
Terry also highlighted the value of simplicity executed at speed.
“You can knock it past people when you’re that quick and put crosses in the box and make it difficult for defenders. I’m delighted with that.”
Garnacho’s numbers are starting to reflect his impact. After going six matches without a goal contribution, the winger has now produced two goals and two assists in his last four appearances across all competitions. It’s a surge in form that couldn’t be better timed as Chelsea push to build momentum in the second half of the season.
His performance against Wolves wasn’t just about flair — it was about maturity, decision making, and confidence. The two assists were both examples of end product, something critics have previously said the Argentine needed to improve.
Chelsea fans will now be hoping this is just the beginning — because if Garnacho can maintain this level, Chelsea have a difference-maker on their hands.
