Chelsea legend John Terry has heaped huge praise on Eden Hazard, describing him as the club’s “greatest ever player” after the Belgian’s induction into the Premier League Hall of Fame.
In a heartfelt tribute shared in a Premier League montage, Terry congratulated his former teammate on the achievement and reflected on their time together at Stamford Bridge.
“Eden, a huge congratulations on a fantastic achievement,” Terry began in a montage posted to the Premier League’s social media accounts.
“It was a joy to play with you. You’re Chelsea’s greatest ever player, in terms of pure ability and having someone like you in your team, it was a dream come true. It’s players like you that excite supporters, people on your team, and petrify the opposition.
“I absolutely love you to bits. I know the Chelsea fans do. It was a joy to play with you and share many of the trophies [that we won]. I’ve got a few of these because of players like you. A big thank you, huge congratulations.”
Jose Mourinho also reserved special praise for Hazard.
“Eden, many congratulations on joining the Premier League Hall of Fame,” Mourinho said for the Premier League’s website.
“Everybody knows that you belong there. You are one of the most amazing players that I ever worked with and of course you have to be there.
“You are in the Hall of Fame so now you stay in our memories – and by the way thank you so much for helping to win my last Premier League title!”
Hazard, who retired from football in 2023, made 352 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 110 goals and providing 92 assists. He won two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues, an FA Cup, and a League Cup during his time at the club.
His inclusion in the Premier League Hall of Fame sees him join five other Chelsea legends — John Terry, Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Petr Cech, and Ashley Cole — cementing the Blues’ dominance across multiple generations.
