Chelsea owners and sporting directors stormed into the dressing room after Brighton defeat. Maresca reveals what happened afterwards

Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton was a tough one to swallow. It wasn’t just the fans who were furious — even the club’s owners and sporting directors reportedly stormed into the dressing room straight after the final whistle.

For many, that raised alarm bells. Was this a sign of panic behind the scenes? Was pressure already mounting on new boss Enzo Maresca?

Maresca himself was quick to calm the noise. Speaking at his press conference, the Chelsea head coach explained that the owners’ presence inside the dressing room wasn’t unusual at all.

“They have been inside the changing room like always,” Maresca told a press conference.

“We have an office inside the changing room where, after every game, we sit and talk about the game. It’s nothing different.”

After a bright start to the season, Chelsea have now lost two of their last three games in all competitions.

The Blues face Mourinho’s Benfica next, and then Liverpool – with Maresca with a tough job of winning the fans and board over.
