Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has questioned the direction Chelsea are heading under Todd Boehly and Clearlake, insisting that the club’s so-called “rebuild” since the departure of Roman Abramovich has become endless.
For Carragher, Chelsea have dropped standards under the Todd Boehly era.
Carragher pointed out as he wrote: “Chelsea are not judged by the same standards as under Roman Abramovich, because the club hides behind a prolonged transitional period that keeps being extended, focusing on signing the same type of young players in every transfer window.
“This is unacceptable for a club that only recently won the Champions League, in 2021.
“How long will the rebuild after Abramovich last? At what point will they realize the need to buy ready-made, established stars who can take the team from fourth place to first, combining youth with experience?
“Chelsea need to settle on a squad that only requires certain changes in order to fight for the title and Champions League qualification. It seems they have become too obsessed with transfers.”
