Chelsea have officially confirmed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United for £40 million, with a further 10% sell-on clause agreed.
The 21-year-old winger, renowned for his dribbling, goalscoring and flair, arrives at Stamford Bridge with high expectations – and he’s already made it clear who inspired his journey.
“I loved Eden Hazard. Eden was one of my idols and a big reason why I watched and supported Chelsea a bit when I was younger. He was such an incredible player, playing in the same position that I wanted to, coming inside, scoring goals – he was crazy good,” Garnacho revealed.
The Argentina international grew up in Arroyomolinos, a southeastern suburb of Madrid, where he spent endless hours glued to Hazard’s brilliance in blue.
“Growing up in Arroyomolinos, a southeastern suburb of Madrid, Garnacho spent countless hours watching Hazard weave past defenders – skills he hopes to emulate at Stamford Bridge,” the new signing admitted.

The young winger’s directness, fearlessness, and ability to glide past opponents have drawn comparisons to Hazard – and now, he has the perfect stage to write his own chapter in Chelsea’s history.
With Garnacho’s dream of following in the footsteps of his idol becoming reality, the Blues faithful will be eager to see if he can light up the Premier League in the same way Hazard once did.
