In a surprising twist to a transfer window full of Chelsea departures, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has lifted the lid on his shock exit from Stamford Bridge after just one season with the Blues.

The 26-year-old has joined Everton, and he’s now explained the motivation behind the move – and why it was simply too good to turn down.

He said: “For me to leave my old club, it would have had to have been for something special, a project that I really believed in.

“After speaking to the manager and seeing the ambitions with the new stadium and everything, it felt like the right club, it felt like the right fit for me for the next step.”

Dewsbury-Hall won the Conference League and Club World Cup with Chelsea. He played a key role in Chelsea’s Conference League conquest.
