Chelsea look set to part ways with Raheem Sterling, with Fulham emerging as surprise frontrunners for the England international.
According to TEAMtalk, the Cottagers are in advanced talks with the player’s representatives and a permanent deal is edging closer.
Sterling, now 30, spent last season on loan at Arsenal but failed to rediscover his spark, managing just one goal and five assists in 28 appearances. Despite the Gunners’ high-octane attacking style, Sterling struggled to make an impact, further underlining the notion that his best days might be behind him.
Chelsea signed Sterling in 2022 for £47.5 million under Thomas Tuchel, hoping the former Manchester City star would bring experience, goals, and a winning mentality to a young and evolving squad.
But after two underwhelming seasons at Stamford Bridge, it’s clear the move hasn’t worked out. With just 19 goals in 81 appearances, Sterling hasn’t come close to justifying his massive wage packet—reportedly £300,000 per week.
