Bournemouth have completed the signing of Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea in a deal worth £25m.

The 25-year-old underwent his medical on Monday and has signed a five-year contract with the Cherries, becoming their latest addition ahead of the new Premier League season.

Petrovic joined Chelsea from MLS side New England Revolution in the summer of 2023 for £14m and quickly established himself as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign under Mauricio Pochettino. He made 31 appearances in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.

However, after Enzo Maresca’s arrival as head coach, Petrovic lost his place in the squad and was sent on loan to RC Strasbourg for the 2024/25 season, where he enjoyed regular football with 31 appearances in Ligue 1.

Bournemouth’s move for Petrovic marks a new chapter in his career, as he looks to secure a long-term starting role in the Premier League.

Chelsea thanked Petrovic for his contributions during his time at the club, stating: “We want to thank Djordje for his efforts in blue and wish him well for the future.”
