Chelsea confirm fifth signing of the summer

Chelsea’s summer rebuild under Enzo Maresca is beginning to take real shape — and the latest addition is a statement of intent.

The Blues have officially confirmed the signing of England Under-21 international Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, making him the club’s fifth signing of the summer.

The 20-year-old winger arrives for a fee of £48.5 million, with an additional £3.5 million in performance-related add-ons, and has signed a long-term contract keeping him at Stamford Bridge until June 2032.

Bynoe-Gittens is currently in the United States, where Chelsea and Dortmund are both participating in the FIFA Club World Cup. Talks were concluded in Fort Lauderdale, where officials from both clubs came to a final agreement. While the young winger won’t be available for selection until after the Club World Cup, he’s already been spotted bonding with the Chelsea squad in the States before taking a short holiday ahead of pre-season.

This move continues Chelsea’s trend of investing heavily in young, high-potential talents. Bynoe-Gittens fits the bill perfectly — fast, skillful, direct, and confident in one-v-one situations. Since making his professional breakthrough at Dortmund after joining from Manchester City in 2020, he has featured 107 times for the German side, notching 17 goals and 14 assists.

His Bundesliga experience, particularly at such a young age, makes him a seasoned prospect ready for the demands of Premier League football.

Bynoe-Gittens becomes Chelsea’s fifth signing this summer, joining a group of exciting arrivals which includes Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Dario Essugo and
Mamadou Sarr.

Chelsea have started their summer business early, and are ready to start the new season with a squad on fire.
