Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Joao Pedro from Brighton for an initial £55m fee plus £5m in add-ons.

The 23-year-old forward has signed a seven-year deal with the Blues and is already in Miami, with Chelsea currently in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup.

The boy from Brazil is eligible to face Palmeiras in the Club World Cup quarter-final.

“Everyone knows this is a big club with a great history,” Joao Pedro said in his first interview as a Chelsea player.

“They had brilliant players in the past and have brilliant players now.

“So I am excited to join and you know when you are a Chelsea player you must think one thing — win.”
