Report: Chelsea make move for skillful Ghana attacker

Chelsea are reportedly preparing a new approach for a top Premier League attacker, with the Blues determined to strengthen their forward line ahead of the new season.

The player in question – Mohammed Kudus – has an £85 million release clause written into his current deal, and while his club – believed to be West Ham United – are not expecting suitors to pay the full amount, they are open to a sale if the right offer comes in.

The Blues have already been active in the market this summer but remain keen on adding a proven attacker to bolster Enzo Maresca’s options. With a system built around fluid attacking movement and technical proficiency in the final third, Chelsea are targeting players capable of breaking lines and producing in high-pressure moments.

Sources close to the situation suggest that Chelsea’s initial interest was rebuffed, but the club are not backing down.

Talks are expected to resume, with Chelsea aiming to structure a deal that falls below the £85 million clause but still tempts the Hammers into doing business.

The player, a standout performer last season, is seen as an ideal fit for Maresca’s tactical system. His ability to operate in tight spaces, carry the ball under pressure, and contribute goals makes him a long-term solution to Chelsea’s attacking inconsistencies.

West Ham, for their part, are open to negotiations. While they would ideally want the full £85 million, insiders suggest they would seriously consider offers in the region of £65–70 million, especially if add-ons and performance-related clauses are included.

After seasons of transitional rebuilding, Maresca and the board are focused on assembling a young, dynamic, and title-challenging squad.

With the signing of Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro, do you think Chelsea should still move for Mohammed Kudus.
