Chelsea’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund starlet Jamie Gittens has reached a crucial stage, with fresh reports revealing the German club’s firm valuation of the 20-year-old winger.
According to sources close to the negotiations, Borussia Dortmund are demanding a fee of €65 million, including bonuses, to sanction Gittens’ departure. The Blues had previously tabled offers in the region of £30 million and £42 million, but these bids fell short of Dortmund’s expectations.

Despite the financial standoff between the clubs, Gittens has already given the green light for a move to Stamford Bridge. The England youth international is said to have agreed to a seven-year contract with Chelsea, showcasing his commitment and desire to make the switch to the Premier League.

Chelsea, under new head coach Enzo Maresca, is prioritising the signing of a right-footed left winger—and Gittens remains at the very top of their wishlist. While Lyon’s Malick Fofana is also being considered as part of a broader shortlist, there’s no doubt the Blues are working hard to land their primary target.

The situation now rests on whether Chelsea and Dortmund can come to a financial compromise. With the Club World Cup underway and the Premier League season on the horizon, the Blues will be keen to wrap up the deal quickly to integrate Gittens into Maresca’s plans.

The next few days will be pivotal—will Chelsea meet Dortmund’s €65m valuation, or will they be forced to turn their attention elsewhere?
