Chelsea have shown interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, but the club are not prepared to meet the German side’s €100million valuation, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his Here We Go podcast, Romano revealed:
“Chelsea, over the weekend, had contacts for Ekitike. But this deal is not advancing. Just a call from Chelsea asking about the player they appreciate. And the answer from Frankfurt was €100m, and Chelsea aren’t going to pay that money.”

The 22-year-old forward, who has impressed with his physicality and goal-scoring instincts in the Bundesliga, remains a player of interest for the Blues. However, multiple reports claim Chelsea are only willing to go as high as €80million for the French striker.

With the Club World Cup approaching and Chelsea looking to strengthen their attack, the club may return with a new offer, but only if Frankfurt lower their demands. For now, Ekitike remains out of reach unless the asking price drops.
