It’s that period of the football calendar once again, and Chelsea are very much active in the transfer market.
Chelsea have already confirmed the signing of striker Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, in what’s expected to be a busy summer transfer window.
A report by The Athletic has revealed that there may be up to eleven outgoings for Chelsea this summer.
The report says: “There is a rather long file. The majority of those who have been away on loan is a fairly obvious place to begin because they left to get more first-team football in the first place: Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Armando Broja, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Renato Veiga and Axel Disasi to start with. Joao Felix is another possibility, too.
“Lesley Ugochukwu is well-liked and his loan at Southampton is viewed positively, but Chelsea are now well stocked in midfield. Chelsea believe he will generate a lot of interest.
“Alfie Gilchrist, who was on loan at Sheffield United this season, is expected to explore his options. Fellow academy graduate Leo Castledine is pursuing a move elsewhere and there will be others from the junior ranks doing the same.
“Meanwhile, from the senior squad that did play under Maresca this season, Christopher Nkunku is going to depart.”
