Like we experienced last summer, the future of Victor Osimhen is up in the news again this summer.

Chelsea and Manchester United were strongly linked with the Nigerian international last summer, but both clubs now seem to be pursuing other targets given Osimhen’s astronomical wage demands.

Saudi Arabia side Al Hilal are reportedly keen on meeting and surpassing Osimhen’s demands, but an agreement is yet to be reached, with the Nigerian keen on remaining in Europe, after a wonderful spell on loan with Galatasaray last summer.

Nigerian national team coach Eric Chelle has hailed his star striker, while speaking on his likely transfer this summer.

“Victor [Osimhen], for me, is the best centre forward in the world,” Nigeria national team coach Eric Chelle told reporters when asked why the player wasn’t invited for June’s international break.

Chelle continued, “The reality is that with the transfer window open, a player like him can’t be 100% focused.

“I have to protect him physically and mentally because he will be transferred.

“Perhaps to a club like Manchester United. Or maybe Barcelona, Chelsea, or Real Madrid,” Chelle added.

The 26-year-old has a €75m release clause. Chelsea have already snapped up Liam Delap from Ipswich, and it’s yet to be seen whether Chelsea will still push for Osimhen this summer.
