Jadon Sancho will return to Manchester United this summer after Chelsea decided against making his loan move permanent.
The Blues had a £25million obligation to buy Sancho if they finished above 14th in the Premier League — a clause they triggered — but have chosen to pay a £5million penalty instead, after failing to reach an agreement with the winger over personal terms.
Sancho, 24, scored five goals and provided 10 assists during his season-long loan at Stamford Bridge, including a goal in the UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis.
Despite a solid campaign in blue, Chelsea were unwilling to match the England international’s current Manchester United contract, which is believed to be worth up to £300,000 per week. With one year left on that deal, United now face a decision over Sancho’s future.
Several clubs across Europe have expressed interest in signing the winger, who is expected to assess his options ahead of the 2025/26 season.
