Inter Milan are targeting former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas as their next manager, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano reports that Inter have officially requested permission from Como to begin talks with the Spaniard. While no direct contact has been made with Fabregas yet, Inter are now preparing to present their managerial project once Como give the green light.
The Nerazzurri are seeking a new head coach following the sudden departure of Simone Inzaghi, who left the club just days after their crushing 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final. Inzaghi’s exit also came on the heels of narrowly missing out on the Serie A title, with Inter finishing just one point behind champions Napoli.
Fabregas, 38, retired from professional football in 2023 and has been working at Como, helping the club secure promotion to Serie A. Known for his tactical intelligence and leadership on the pitch, he is now seen as a rising managerial talent in European football.
Inter’s interest signals a bold and ambitious move as the club looks to rebuild and return to the summit of Italian and European football.
