Cole Palmer cemented his place in Chelsea history with a record-breaking performance in the Blues’ 4-1 triumph over Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final.

The 23-year-old playmaker delivered a dazzling second-half display, registering two assists as Chelsea came from behind to secure a convincing win and lift the Conference League title.

In doing so, Palmer became the first Premier League player in over a decade to register two assists in a major European final.
The last player to achieve this feat for an English club? Juan Mata, who set up two goals in the 2013 UEFA Europa League final as Chelsea defeated Benfica.

Since then, no Premier League player had managed a brace of assists on such a prestigious European stage—until Palmer stepped up in Wroclaw.

Palmer also joined elite European company, becoming the first player since Real Madrid’s Marcelo in the 2018 Champions League final to deliver two assists in a major UEFA final.
His influence was undeniable on the night. With Chelsea trailing 1-0 at half-time, Palmer’s vision and composure flipped the script. He created the equaliser for Enzo Fernández before setting up Nicolas Jackson just five minutes later to put Chelsea in front.

Palmer’s performance underlined his growing importance to Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea project—and with the Blues now heading into the Champions League next season, his European magic would be needed on even bigger stages.
