Chelsea are on the verge of completing the signing of Liam Delap, with the Ipswich Town striker set to undergo a medical on Monday ahead of a £30million transfer.
The 22-year-old was a standout performer in an otherwise difficult campaign for Ipswich, scoring 12 goals in 37 Premier League appearances during the 2024/25 season. Despite the club’s relegation, Delap’s individual displays caught the attention of several top-flight clubs.
Chelsea acted swiftly to beat the competition, triggering the striker’s £30m release clause. According to Mail Sport, Delap was convinced after head coach Enzo Maresca personally outlined the club’s vision in direct talks. The Italian tactician played a key role in persuading the young forward to join the Conference League champions.
As reported by The Athletic, Delap’s medical is now scheduled for Monday, with only final formalities standing in the way of Chelsea confirming their first major signing of the summer.
Delap only joined Ipswich last summer in a £20m deal from Manchester City but is now poised for another big step in his career — this time at Stamford Bridge.
