Former Chelsea defender Paul Parker has questioned the logic behind rumours linking Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho with a shock move to Stamford Bridge.

With speculation swirling about a potential transfer, Parker believes the deal would be unnecessary and out of step with Chelsea’s current squad structure.

“I’d be astounded if Chelsea sign Garnacho. It doesn’t make any sense, in my opinion, with the wide players they’ve got already,” Parker said.

“Do Chelsea, given the size of their squad and what they’ve got, do they need someone like Garnacho there who will be expecting to start every single game? Do they need that?”

Parker added: “You know, we all want to play football, but when you walk into a situation, you have to be fully aware of what the club’s about, and then you have to accept — I don’t think he’d accept that.”
