Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has made it clear that his heart is set on playing for the Blues, despite reported interest from European heavyweights Arsenal and Bayern Munich.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 21-year-old Brazilian reaffirmed his commitment to Chelsea, stating:
“The only conversation I had was that I would play in the Club World Cup for Chelsea and after that we’ll see what happens.”
He continued:
“Everyone knows about my love, my desire to play for Chelsea. I think Enzo Maresca was very sincere with me, and I liked that sincerity. Also, when you look someone in the eye, when you’re sincere, you build trust with the player.”
Santos spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Strasbourg, where he impressed with 11 goals in 34 appearances from midfield. Now, the talented youngster is set to return to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea including him in their squad for this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
Santos concluded with optimism about his Chelsea future:
“So I accepted that and went to Strasbourg to get minutes. And now, God willing, we’ll see how it goes at the Club World Cup. I hope everything goes well.”
His commitment and form have made him one to watch ahead of the new season under Enzo Maresca.
