Chelsea’s first-half performance in the Conference League final against Real Betis was far from encouraging.
The Blues found themselves 1-0 at half-time, after putting in a leggy display against the Spanish side.
Chelsea eventually turned around the game in the second-half, scoring four goals to win the game 4-1.
Enzo Maresca has opened up on Chelsea’s win in the UEFA Conference League on Wednesday night, and how he turned the game around.
He said: “I expected a little bit the way we played in the first half. The reason why – and I said a week ago – you can’t give any advantage to a team and between them and us, 48 hours is a very difference.
“They played on Friday and had a game where they were playing for nothing. On Sunday, we played for 100 minutes, and played to the very last seconds to achieve something important.
“At half time, we adjusted something tactically, we changed something and second half we were much better in the second half. We are very happy.”
The second-half changes from Maresca helped the team in the second-half, as the introduction of Reece James, Levi Colwill and Jadon Sancho turned the game around.
