Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin, has warned his former side not to take Real Betis for granted in the Conference League final.

Real Betis have a number of former Premier League players in their starting XI. Pablo Fornals helped West Ham win the Conference League in 2023, while goalkeeper Adrian was on the books at both Liverpool and West Ham.

Pat Nevin doesn’t buy the idea that they are are a team of Premier League rejects, with Antony the latest struggling player from the Premier League to shine for Betis.

Nevin said ahead of the final: “A lot of people have said to me Real Betis is a team of rejects from the Premier League. Absolute nonsense. Maybe players who are not quite suited to Premier League football – they’re more suited to the game they are playing now.

“Think again about writing off Real Betis. They’ve beaten Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and drew with Barcelona in La Liga. They are no mugs.”
