Three Chelsea Players Named Among Premier League’s Worst Transfers of the Season

Chelsea’s ambitious transfer strategy has come under renewed scrutiny after Goal named three Blues players among the Top 10 Worst Premier League Transfers of the Season.

The list is led by £46m signing Joao Felix, whose short-lived Stamford Bridge stint failed to deliver on expectations before a loan move to AC Milan where he also struggled, while Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jadon Sancho also made the unwanted ranking following underwhelming spells in West London.
1. Joao Felix – £46m from Atletico Madrid
Topping the list is Joao Felix, who was signed for £46 million from Atletico Madrid with high hopes of lighting up the Premier League. Despite glimpses of flair and technical quality, the Portuguese forward failed to make a consistent impact. He managed just one goal and one assist in 12 Premier League appearances, contributing seven goals and two assists across all competitions before being loaned out to AC Milan in January. For a marquee signing, the return was deemed far below expectations.
6. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – £30m from Leicester City
Eyebrows were raised when Chelsea splashed £30 million on Dewsbury-Hall, who had impressed in the Championship but struggled to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge. Used sporadically in a crowded midfield, the 25-year-old failed to cement a regular starting role and couldn’t deliver the energy and creativity that had made him a standout at Leicester. His performances lacked the cutting edge needed to thrive at the highest level.
8. Jadon Sancho – Loan from Manchester United
A mid-season loan signing, Sancho’s move to Chelsea was seen as a chance for revival after a difficult time at Manchester United. However, the England international looked short on confidence and form, providing little attacking threat and failing to register a goal contribution during his loan spell. His inclusion in this list underlines how the move did little to reignite his career.
