One of the criticisms that have marked the Todd Boehly era is the club’s spending in the transfer market.

Well over £1billion has been invested in the team, as the new owners virtually replaced the entire first-team squad.

Despite the amount spent, the Chelsea squad still looks way off being ready to challenge for the title, and some of the big money signings have been criticised.

Chelsea Player of the Year Moises Caicedo has finally overcome the pressure following his British-record £115million move to Chelsea from Brighton.

Enzo Fernandez has also proven that he’s worth the fee spent on him, as well as Marc Cucurella who had initially struggled at Chelsea following a big money move from Brighton.

Enzo Maresca has hailed the impact of all three players who had to endure criticisms following their big money move.

“The price that you pay for a player is not decided by the player,” said Maresca.

“If you pay money for a player it’s because you consider that that price is the correct one.

“I think Moi is doing fantastic. Enzo (Fernandez) is doing fantastic, (Marc) Cucurella is doing fantastic. All players that not a long time ago there was noise around them, but now because their performances are very good, no-one is thinking about how much money we paid for them.”
