Chelsea have reportedly entered the race to sign Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo Goes, as the Spanish giants consider a major sale to balance their books ahead of a summer rebuild.
According to Spanish journalist Antón Meana via Cadena SER’s El Larguero, Real Madrid are open to offloading one of their biggest names as they prepare for a busy transfer window. The club is planning high-profile arrivals — including Juventus defender Dean Huijsen, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold and Manchester United target Alvaro Carreras — but Financial Fair Play regulations mean at least one marquee departure is expected. And Rodrygo could be the one sacrificed.
The 23-year-old Brazilian winger, who has long been admired across Europe, is now firmly on Chelsea’s radar. Reports from Sky Sports reveal that Rodrygo’s representatives have made contact with at least two Premier League clubs — with Chelsea among those approached — to gauge interest and assess the possibility of a summer move.
Although Arsenal are also monitoring the situation, Chelsea’s interest is believed to be serious, with the Blues keen to add elite-level attacking reinforcements under manager Enzo Maresca. A move for Rodrygo would represent a major statement of intent from the West London club, especially as they aim to return to the top of English and European football.
While Rodrygo’s market valuation is around €100 million (£84m), sources suggest Real Madrid could consider offers in the region of €80 million (£67m) — a price tag that could tempt Chelsea into action. The Blues, who have not hesitated to invest heavily in emerging talent, view Rodrygo as a player who can add quality, versatility, and Champions League pedigree to their squad.
Rodrygo, under contract with Madrid until 2028, has yet to decide his future. With manager Carlo Ancelotti set to depart after the final game of the season and Xabi Alonso expected to take over, the Brazilian wants to meet with the new coach during preseason before making a final decision. His future at the Bernabeu may hinge on whether he fits into Alonso’s tactical vision.
Any concrete developments in Rodrygo’s future are expected to occur in August, once Madrid have finalised their incoming transfers and completed preparations for the Club World Cup.
For Chelsea, this could be the perfect opportunity to swoop in and secure one of South America’s brightest stars — and give the Stamford Bridge faithful another Galáctico to believe in. Watch this space.
Respectfully, let’s stop going round in circles. We need a proper no. 9 and not Rodrygo. Let’s for once breach whatever project and rules we have set and bring in Osimhen.
