Chelsea face Real Betis in the Conference League final next Wednesday.
Ahead of this game, La Liga have brought forward Real Betis’s clash with Valencia by two days to allow the team to have more time to prepare for their UEFA Conference League final against Chelsea.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has slammed this move by the La Liga and says La Liga should not be allowed to do this.
“I’m not happy, 100%,” he said when asked about the extra days of preparation for Betis.
“You cannot allow a team 48 hours more than the other team when you play in a European competition final.”
When asked if his team should be able to play on Friday, he said: “Or they play on Sunday, like us.”
“I don’t know if it’s from La Liga, the Premier League or UEFA. If I ask you if it is normal to play a final where the team has 48 hours more than the other team, it’s not normal. It’s not correct.”
