Chelsea goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic has left a touching message for RC Strasbourg Alsace fans after being voted the French club’s Player of the Season.

The Serbian shot-stopper, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Strasbourg from Chelsea, played 30 games in all competitions, keeping 10 clean sheets and conceding 35 goals.
Despite his impressive individual performance and recognition from the fans, Petrovic admitted he wasn’t ready for the season to end.
“I’m not happy because it’s the end of the season and I like it here, I would like to continue for a few more weeks…” he confessed, visibly emotional before being interrupted mid-sentence by teammates Guela Doué and Sekou Mara in a heart-warming moment caught on video.
“…and voila, I will miss these guys,” he added, gesturing toward his teammates, who clearly made his time in France special both on and off the pitch.

Petrovic’s words underline how much he enjoyed his experience at Strasbourg, where he was not just a key performer but also a beloved figure in the dressing room. His form between the sticks played a crucial role in Strasbourg’s campaign, and Chelsea fans will be encouraged by his growth and maturity over the past few months.

Signed by Chelsea from New England Revolution in 2023, Petrovic has shown steady improvement and resilience. His season in Ligue 1 has proven he is more than capable of handling pressure in a top European league.
With uncertainty surrounding Chelsea’s goalkeeping situation and potential changes under manager Enzo Maresca, Petrovic’s successful loan spell gives the Blues a reliable option to consider heading into the 2025/26 season.

Whether he stays at Stamford Bridge or goes out on another loan, one thing is clear: Djordje Petrovic has taken a major step forward – and he’ll be missed in Strasbourg.
