Chelsea’s search for a top-class striker ahead of the 2025/26 season has led to one name consistently being linked with the Blues – Victor Osimhen.

Former Aston Villa forward and Talksport pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor has now weighed in on the speculation, delivering a strong verdict on the Nigerian’s suitability for Chelsea.

Speaking to Talksport, Agbonlahor declared: “I think Osimhen is a Chelsea player. He’s a better option than Nicolas Jackson, a better finisher.”
Agbonlahor’s assessment is clear – while Jackson has shown promise at Stamford Bridge, he believes Osimhen offers a higher level of quality and consistency in front of goal.

The 26-year-old Napoli striker, who has spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray, has been in red-hot form. He’s scored an astonishing 35 goals in 39 appearances for the Turkish giants – a record that underlines his elite goal-scoring instincts.

Agbonlahor continued: “He’s outstanding in the air and can hold the ball up and get in behind as well. Surely that’s a no-brainer to go and get.”
It’s not just Osimhen’s finishing that appeals – his all-round game is built for Premier League football. From aerial dominance to intelligent hold-up play and sharp movement, he ticks the boxes of a complete No.9.

Reports suggest that Napoli are open to selling Osimhen this summer, with a potential price tag of around £60 million. However, the main stumbling block could be the striker’s wage demands, which are reportedly high enough to give Chelsea pause for thought.

Still, for a team that’s lacked a ruthless striker since the days of Diego Costa, the Nigerian international might just be the missing piece in Enzo Maresca’s team.
