Chelsea to make these 3 signings in the summer if Blues qualify for Champions League — Reaching the Champions League will provide more funds to spend and the owners are willing to spend it

Chelsea’s summer transfer plans are taking shape — and they hinge heavily on securing Champions League qualification. According to The Athletic, if the Blues finish in the Premier League’s top five and book their place in next season’s Champions League, the club’s owners are ready to unlock further investment to strengthen key areas of the squad.

The club intends to prioritise three positions in the summer transfer window: a clinical striker, a right-footed left-winger, and a new centre-back. All three signings are seen as critical to taking Chelsea to the next level under Enzo Maresca, especially with the higher demands of competing on multiple fronts next season.

Attacking Reinforcements Incoming
The search for a striker continues, with Chelsea determined to add firepower to support or compete with Nicolas Jackson. The right-footed left-winger, meanwhile, is expected to add balance and unpredictability to the attack — an area the club believes needs a new dimension. In defence, a new centre-back will be sought to bolster depth and quality.

No New Goalkeeper — For Now
While some fans may have expected a new goalkeeper to arrive, Chelsea currently have no plans to bring one in. The decision over who becomes first choice next season will be made from within the current crop: Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Filip Jorgensen, and highly rated youngster Mike Penders, who joins from Genk this summer and is expected to go out on loan.

Midfield Depth Already in Place
Chelsea’s midfield is already being reshaped behind the scenes. Andrey Santos, who has excelled on loan at Strasbourg, will return and compete for minutes with Romeo Lavia, while Dario Essugo — a teenage sensation from Sporting CP — will serve as back-up to Moises Caicedo. These additions are seen as vital for maintaining high intensity and squad rotation during a demanding Champions League campaign.

More Flair from Brazil
Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian, already dubbed the next big thing from Palmeiras, will also join Chelsea’s ranks in the coming months, bringing flair and creativity to the attack.

Chelsea have just three Premier League games remaining to clinch a top-five finish and return to the Champions League. Should they succeed, fans can expect another ambitious summer of investment — this time, with a clearer structure and purpose.

Can the Blues finish strong and return to Europe’s elite stage?
