Despite spending over £1billion on new players under the new ownership, Chelsea have failed to finish in Champions League places and have also failed to win any trophy.

Ahead of Chelsea’s Europa Conference League semi-final clash against Swedish club Djurgarden, Chelsea head coach has warned spending big doesn’t guarantee titles.

According to Maresca, money must be spent in the right way if Chelsea must win titles.

Maresca said: “You don’t win games and titles with money. We know that very well. It’s not about how much you spend.

“You are not going to win games or titles just because you spend big. You have to spend money, but in the right way.”
