As Chelsea prepare for a crucial UEFA Conference League semi-final showdown with Swedish side Djurgarden, Blues goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen has highlighted the team’s determination to get the job done away from home.
Speaking ahead of the tie, Jorgensen stressed the importance of thorough preparation and maintaining the right mentality. “We train hard and we study our opponents before the matches and do our best to counter their strengths and what they are good at,” the young shot-stopper explained.
While Jorgensen admitted he isn’t a regular follower of Swedish football, he recognises the pedigree of Chelsea’s opponents. “I don’t follow the Swedish league that much, but of course, I have heard of Djurgarden. It is a big club in Sweden with a lot of supporters and a great stadium,” he said.
Despite the difference in stature and expectations between the two clubs, Jorgensen knows that nothing can be taken for granted in football. “I think they do [think that Chelsea are favourites], and probably a lot of people around the world think this too,” he noted. “They expect us to win as we should. Of course football is unpredictable, but we will do our best to win it.”
Jorgensen’s words echo the mood in the Chelsea camp — respectful of the challenge Djurgarden present, but fully focused on delivering a professional performance to book a place in the final. The Blues know they carry the weight of expectation, and they’ll aim to justify that belief with a strong display in Sweden.
